How the standards fit together
They do different jobs, so most teams combine them. This page is an independent summary, and it doesn’t replace the originals.
| Standard | What it is | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| PMBOK® Guide, 8th ed. (PMI, 2025) | A broad body of knowledge | What to manage, across any approach |
| PRINCE2® 7 (2023) | A process-based method | Who does what, when, under clear governance |
| Scrum (2020 guide) | A light team framework | Running product work in sprints |
| Kanban | A flow method | Limiting work in progress |
| ISO 21502:2020 | International guidance | Benchmarking an organization’s practice |
